Caliche Music and Dance

As a performing band Caliche has been one of the leading groups promoting the music and culture of South America in Britain for the last 35 years.

They have established a reputation as the main group bringing the music of South America to primary and secondary schools through workshops and performing projects based around stories and legends of the Andes and the Amazon rainforest.

Caliche has been involved in successful music in education projects with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the ikon Gallery. The latter merited a prominent review in The Times, as the project involved music-making and painting for children aged between eight and thirteen at the Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

For the last 26 years, Caliche has developed work within the education system tailoring the workshops to encompass the topics of the National Curriculum. By bringing the largest collection on of American instruments in the UK to the classroom, every child is able to take part and experience the traditions of South American music in a fun and enjoyable way.
